What is blue light?
Blue light is a short, high-energy wavelength emitted from the sun as well, as smartphones, flat screens, laptops, and fluorescent / LED lighting.
Why is it harmful?
This visible light penetrates skin more deeply and generates more ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) than UVA and UVB combined.

Blue light ranges between 400-490 nm. Zinc oxide is one of the only mineral SPFs that protects from 290 nm to 400 nm, making it effective against both short and long UVA and UVB rays.
Studies have shown that even short-term exposure to blue light increases the formation of reactive oxygen species. As we age, the production of ROS naturally increases, however, the body’s ability to repair the DNA damage it causes decreases. Couple this with the increased exposure to blue light from our electronic devices and the skin damage and visible signs of aging rapidly become more evident.
